Safe Mode
I'm Safe !!
Safe Mode, you can boot Windows in safe mode by tapping the F8 key on startup and selecting "Safe Mode" from the boot menu. An easier way is by clicking Start and then click Run and then type “msconfig” (without the commors) in the dialog box, now press OK and then select the BOOT.INI tab and click SAFEBOOT. Then simply click Apply and Close and you will be prompted to click Restart.
This will then take you into safe mode upon reboot. This mode looks completely different from the normal operating made and you will see “Safe Mode” in each corner of the screen with a prompt box asking if you wish to continue in safe mode. You must click Yes and now you can begin utilizing this mode for its intended purposes.
Safe mode is often used for things like virus removal, diagnostic troubleshooting, maintenance, program removal, and provides certain utilities that allow the user to reconfigure Windows in ways you cannot while in normal mode. Safe mode basically loads up a minimum of both drivers and services removing some file extensions from programs and applications, that might otherwise inhibit you from performing specific tasks while operating under normal mode.
You will also notice that safe mode does not load a wallpaper background and that only a minimum of icons will appear and even they look kind of distorted, don’t worry, as this is normal for safe made. Your graphics drivers take a holiday and are not loaded while in safe mode. Things happen a little slower and your computer literally looks as though it is not quite feeling itself.

IT professionals will very often conduct virus scans etc, in safe mode. This gives them greater flexibility, and generally allows them to perform a more thorough spring clean of the system. They sometimes even disc clean and defrag while in safe mode. I know I do. !!
