Changing the Screen Resolution
Changing the screen resolution means how large or small the resolution of your screen is. Screen resolution or “screen res,” is the amount of dots per square inch. That is to say, how many dots display in each square inch of your screen. Usually the higher this number, the better the image quality.
This function allows you to set your screen according to your visual needs, some people with impaired vision may find looking at your average screen, a vision of slight obscurity. To help correct this you can change your screen res. changing the res can also provide a much sharper looking screen with well defined images and icons.
How to change the Screen Resolution
1) Right-click and empty spot on your desktop and select Properties
2) Click the Settings tab in the Display Properties window
3) Now simply drag the slider to the right for a higher resolution.
4) Now click Apply and OK
4) Now click Apply and OK
5) Click Yes to the Prompt
You should also ensure that your Color Quality is set to "32 Bit" for the best image quality.
You may find in some cases that once you change to the highest setting, your screen may display an (Out of Range) warning sign. Should this happen do not touch anything as it should automatically revert back to its original resolution. If it does not? You will need to reboot your computer, If after rebooting the problem still exists, you will need to reboot in safe mode and then reset the resolution using the same method as above. If your computer decides to freeze in its tracks, you can reboot by holding in the power button for several seconds. For more information see; My Computer Keeps Freezing. To boot in safe mode, see Safe Mode.
After you have successfully changed the screen res, you can also change the screen’s refresh rate. This will provide an even sharper image and especially looks good if you have a high screen res. Screen res and refresh rate are dependent on your video equipment and hardware such as your monitor. You may find that the higher the res, the lower the refresh rate available. Either way, try and set the highest possible settings your system will allow for the best picture quality.
To change the Refresh Rate
1) As above right-click and empty space on your desktop and select Properties.
2) Click the Advanced tab in the Display Properties window
3) Click the Monitor Tab
3) Set the Refresh Rate to the highest possible
4) Simply OK your way out of the Display Settings window.
These settings will vary between computers, sometimes it is worth experimenting to find out what and which setting suites you best.
